The Advanced Course is a long-term course made up of monthly appointments at the headquarters of In Arte Bonsai. This course is organized by the In Arte Bonsai school and taught by IBS Instructor Carmelo Bonanno.
The Advanced Course was designed for those who due to work commitments or any other reason, need to independently agree on the dates and times of every lesson.
The course has a total duration of four years, in which both theory and practice play an important role. The objective of the course is to make the student completely independent in the design, realization, and cultivation of a bonsai.
It includes monthly lessons, while all the remaining time is dedicated to working on specimens owned by the student or by In Arte Bonsai. The theory lessons follow a well-defined program structured around five macro-topics: cultivation and processing techniques, aesthetics, botany, essences, and exposition.
The minimum frequency required to be admitted to the Advanced Course is one day per month, which can also be reached with two half-days. However, students may decide to increase their frequency by agreeing with the Instructor additional days or half-days. It is therefore possible to vary one's school attendance on a monthly basis depending on the available time.
At the end of the second year, a practical test on a chosen theme is scheduled to demonstrate the technical level achieved in the first half of the course. At the end of the course, the student will take a practical exam to demonstrate the level achieved and receive a certificate recognized by the IBS College from In Arte Bonsai.
The personalized advancement courses are held at the In Arte Bonsai headquarters in Camporosso (IM) or at a location external to the school.
